How to play

Election Mogul is a fictional, turn-based campaign simulation. This page explains the rules and the formulas you can inspect.

Back

The campaign loop

  1. Choose a candidate, difficulty and optional starting staff.
  2. Complete the pre-campaign draft. AI campaigns pick using the same legality rules.
  3. Each week, spend up to 3 candidate action points and assign staff.
  4. Submit. Payroll, passive effects, actions, events, opponent AI and polling resolve in order.
  5. Read the report. Every effect lists its drivers; the checksum can be replayed.
  6. Win the primary, settle the ticket at the convention, then contest the general election.

Vote model

For each region, voter group and candidate the simulator builds a utility from baseline support, candidate image, issue alignment, campaign presence and group support, endorsements and a keyed random shock.

utility = baseline + image + alignment + campaign + endorsements + noise

Utilities become shares with a softmax. Turnout uses group propensity, regional enthusiasm and field readiness, clamped to safe bounds.

votes = population × turnout × support

Winner-take-all, proportional and popular-vote rules all live behind an election-rule interface. Ties use national popular vote, then baseline lean, then deterministic key order.

Determinism

Every campaign stores a seed. Random draws are keyed by seed, turn, system and key, so adding a new unrelated draw does not shift another result.

Election results store their full input snapshot and checksum. The results page verifies a byte-identical replay.
